Almost all of Berkut 13 is white, although some parts with thin foam are red and black.

According to the color study, parts of your plane with thick foam will get to 200 degrees (according to your measurements). It will be great if you can prove the 70's study wrong... I would love to see some colors available for our fleet. Your EZ already looks great in the photos... But only you know if your experiments are controlled.

I've been conducting temp tests for over 2 years. Check out my build log for details and pictures. The temp chart from Rutan is based on paint. Not vinyl.

.... also keep in mind that the Black on Berkut 13 is Solar Heat Reflective (Akzo Nobel).

I've got a sample of the SHR paint and have tested that as well. It's the real deal.

Revered Constable; Theres a few guys on the mailing list that have glowing things to say about the roll-on glossy marine paint. I don't have a experience with it but the crow with glee about the ease, and the results. =) FWIW

Here's a few pics of the real deal. This plane was a mess and the owner decided to have it wrapped instead of refinishing. It covered a lot of imperfections.

Thanks guys.

I'll have to take a look at the roll on. Perfection is the enemy of good enough and I do not ever intend on getting a gold Lindy at Osh.......I'd rather fly and not worry as much about the finish as long as its not too embarrassing.

I have restored a couple of first gen Mustang convertibles. My current one was close to mint....way back in '95. However, I did drive it and twenty years later I need to re-restore it.....even though at 60 mph it looks great and I am not afraid to drive it.....

Is this the plane that was featured in Velocity Views e-Newsletter? That article is what had me to seriously consider the wrap option. Nicely written article.
