Default Landing Light ?

Getting close to having Mr. DAR come out. I never installed a landing light because I don't plan to fly at night and I'm VFR at the moment, and I could never find a good spot for it (them). Strake leading edge, landing brake, belly mount per plans, lower nose mount... can't decide

Is a landing light required? If so, can someone recommend a thin, high-lumen output light that doesn't use much power? LED or HID?

Thanks

What does 14 CFR Part 91.205(c)(4) say about it?

4) If the aircraft is operated for hire, one electric landing light.

For those of you who are planning to take your Commercial written, it was on the test.

I used an aero led in my Longeze, very pleased with it.

I have the regular belly mounted landing light in my Long-EZ but I was regularly getting cut off on final by other aircraft not seeing me... even with the landing light. My solution was to install wig-wag LED (3500 lumen cheep Chinese) spot lights (10 degree pattern) in the wheel pants. By all reports, they work like a charm.

Like you, I didn't want to cut into my wings or strakes.

As for the legal requirements, my rules are different than your rules so I can't comment.

Just another way to skin a cat....

There is a guy on the canard page on Facebook that just put a nice set of LED'S on his front landing gear cover for $12.00 and from the pics, it looks pretty bright. They stick on and wiring hookups come with them. He states they project forward really well also.
