Any good automotive machine shop that grinds crankshafts will be able to check that thing for cracks. It's just a crankshaft; there aint no magic to it. Find somebody that builds spring car engines; they can hook you up, and you'll avoid the BS aviation price.

Well I've reached an agreement with Central Cylinder. I dug up my mason jar in the back yard and I should have a zero time (SMOH) engine in about 3 weeks.

It still stings but there were some shortcuts that the last rebuilder took that even I could see would limit the lifespan of the engine (and perhaps me as well.)

I'm sure I'll feel a lot better once I hear it run.
